Professional Development Opportunity/Workshop
“Making Successful Presentations for Fire Service Personnel”
Time: One day (8 hour) or Two day (16 hour) + 1 hour lunch break
Audience: All emergency services personnel who serve as or desire to serve as training officers, fire prevention officers, public information officers or lead officers.
A/V: PowerPoint, podium with microphone, classroom seating
Description: Fighting fires, driving apparatus, providing E.M.S. and operating hydraulic rescue tools comes naturally to most firefighters. Unfortunately standing before a large group and speaking does not! The ability to give short, professional organized presentations or speeches is almost required if a firefighter desires to serve in fire prevention, training, or public information officer positions in the fire service. This workshop will teach attendees the basics of public speaking, preparing outlines, dealing with difficult audiences and provide guidance on how to keep it all together in front of a group. During this workshop attendees will actually make a number of short presentations before their peers and receive professional feedback on how to improve their stage presence and preparation skills.
Participants: Maximum 40
Fee: $1,000 for one day program, $1,750 for two day program
