This workshop done in full color Power Point walks participants through the S.O.P. writing process from start to finish. Full color fire apparatus accident photos are used to highlight the importance of an organized safe apparatus response. Attendees will leave with a complete outline and a step by step guide to create their own department S.O.P.
Fire Driver – Best Practices (60-90 Minutes)
Fire Driver is an exciting workshop done in full color Power Point that reviews many of the best fire apparatus driver practices from around the country. This workshop is perfect for any attendee who gets behind the wheel of fire apparatus, trains apparatus drivers or who sets policy. Emphasis is placed on the driver’s responsibility for getting the apparatus and its crew to and from emergency incidents safely and reviews line of duty death statistics from accidents responding and returning.
Teaching Fire Apparatus Defensive Driving (60-90 Minutes)
This workshop is perfect for any fire service personnel directly responsible for training apparatus drivers both new and veteran. The program done in full color Power Point will review life saving defensive driving techniques and 10 key characteristics of highly successful emergency drivers. Upon completion of this workshop attendees will be able to immediately put into use the valuable information learned in this class.
FD 101 – Teaching Fire Service History & Tradition to New Recruits
This blockbuster 60-90 minute workshop reviews the highly successful classroom introduction one fire department uses on the first night their rookie firefighters attend training classes. This program reminds recruits who only know Tower Ladders and Chief’s SUV’s of days gone by when feeding horses was part of daily station house duties. Major historic fires are reviewed and important fire service advances are listed. Attendees will be provided with a lesson plan to create their own “FD 101” Power Point for their home fire departments.
Creating a Fire Apparatus Driver Training Program from Scratch
Line of duty deaths from fire apparatus accidents continue to rise, yet some departments still have no formal driver training and evaluation program in place. This workshop walks participants through the process of establishing an organized fire apparatus driver training program for the first time. Emphasis is placed on policies, record keeping and evaluation.

This workshop explores the four unique personalities of people who work your firehouse or office environment. Participants will explore their most internal hopes and fears for their department and how emotions and closed minds can interfere or prevent positive change. Participants will learn about their own interesting personality and the personalities of people who work around them everyday. Participants will leave the workshop with a clear understanding how to work side by side with personalities that are different than their own and how to motivate them in a positive way to improve morale and productivity. *60-90 minutes.
Introduction to School Bus Accidents and Emergencies
Participants in this workshop will receive an introduction to how a school district transportation department operates on a day to day basis and how these organizations respond to an accident or emergency. Attendees will also learn about the different types, styles and construction of current school bus models and the unique challenges those vehicles present in an emergency. Information about basic rescue equipment, scene safety, student records and basic school bus accident procedures will be reviewed. *90 minutes
Management Minded FD Vehicle Accident Prevention – A 10 Step Process
Participants in this workshop will be presented with a comprehensive 10 step plan that defines the key role each party involved in apparatus accident reduction must play. Officers, drivers, insurance organizations, state fire programs, apparatus manufacturers and the community must come together to create an environment where ongoing training and accident prevention can grow. Recent accident case studied will also be presented in full color Power Point.
Improving Public Speaking For Emergency Service Personnel
This is a full day (7-8 Hours) workshop targeted for emergency service workers who are in positions of leadership or who aspire to be in positions of leadership. Participants will learn the basics of public speaking, building quality presentations, understanding your audience, preventing nervousness, taking questions and working with difficult audiences. During this workshop participants will create two speeches and deliver them before a live audience. Due to the hands on nature of this program this class is limited to 30 participants. *Full Day Workshop
